Caring for the Chikutings: Treating Eye Infections with Medicated Drops

Some of the kittens, whom I affectionately call the Chikutings, developed crusty eyes. On many mornings, I found them barely able to open their eyes due to the buildup of crusty discharge. I suspect the infection spread among them when their mama cat cleaned them, inadvertently passing it from one kitten to another.

At this stage, the Chikutings have begun exploring on their own, often bumping into objects due to their impaired vision. Concerned, I consulted my trusted vet clinic, and they prescribed antibiotic eye drops to treat the infection.

Today marks the fourth day of the prescribed treatment, which requires applying the drops three times daily. Thankfully, the eye condition has mostly improved. However, I remain concerned about one particular kitten who initially had a severe case; one of her eyes appears slightly cloudy. I plan to bring her back to the vet for a thorough examination once the full seven-day treatment is complete.

Other than that minor discoloration, she seems to be doing well and is otherwise healthy.
