Iloilo City Resumes Free Spay and Neuter Program for Pets

After a temporary pause due to anesthesia supply issues, the Iloilo City Veterinary Office has resumed its free spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. I've been waiting for this news for quite some time, and I'm sure many pet owners in the city will also be thrilled.

While the procedure itself is offered at no cost, pet owners are responsible for post-operative care expenses. To avail of the service, you’ll need to present proof of residency in Iloilo City. New registrants can visit their office starting July 2, 2025.

Spaying and neutering offer many health and behavioral benefits for pets. I’ve explored these in more detail in this article: Paws for Thought: How Spaying or Neutering Changes Your Cat's Life - Fur Parent Chronicles.

In addition, the city’s anti-rabies vaccination drive is now in full swing, with teams visiting each barangay to ensure comprehensive coverage across all communities.
